What to expect at your first Ayurvedic consultation
An Ayurvedic consultation often covers more ground than people expect. The aim is to understand both the concern and the person experiencing it.
Begin with your main concern
Your physician will ask what is troubling you, when it began, how severe it feels and whether anything makes it better or worse. Bring the names of medicines or supplements you currently use and mention any allergies.
Expect questions about everyday functions
Appetite, digestion, bowel habits, sleep, thirst, energy, movement and stress can all add useful context. These questions help the physician understand patterns rather than viewing one symptom in isolation.
Your constitution and current balance
Ayurveda describes constitutional tendencies through Vata, Pitta and Kapha. A physician does not determine this from a short online quiz alone. It is considered alongside your history, current signs and clinical assessment.
Preparing for your visit
A little preparation can make the appointment more useful.
- Write down your main questions.
- Bring your current medicine and supplement list.
- Mention pregnancy, allergies and diagnosed conditions.
- Be honest about diet, sleep, tobacco and alcohol.
- Ask for clarification if any part of the plan is unclear.
